The Center for Congregational Leadership
About the Center for Congregational Leadership
The Center for Congregational Leadership is a ministry of the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches. The Center is committed to providing educational opportunities for church leaders to equip them to meet the distinct challenges of leading diverse Congregational churches in the 21st century. Drawing upon the strong Congregational values of an educated clergy and a literate laity, the Center is committed to excellence in education, leadership, and vision. We work to provide support and encouragement to churches and their leaders through skill development and an educated understanding of emerging needs, trends, and challenges.
Lay Ministry Training Program
The Lay Ministry Training Program (LMTP) provides training for people who desire to serve the church more fully, either as a lay minister or as a lay leader. Through this program, we assist in the spiritual development of individuals and provide resources to enhance understanding in areas of biblical knowledge, theology, worship, Congregational history and polity, mission work, and others. To apply, individuals must be a member in good standing of an NACCC member church.
History & Polity Course
This course will help to provide greater context to the general history, theology, spirituality, and practice of Congregationalism. Level I and II will acquaint you with and lead you deeper into the general history, theology, spirituality, and practice of Congregationalism and connect these principles to church leadership, the context of congregational polity, the significance of covenant, and articulate the major historical and theological development of American Congregationalism.
The Pastoral Search
One of the most important transitions in the life of any church is when one pastor leaves and the church embarks on a search for their next pastor.
The NACCC offers services to member churches to assist in this process. One service helps introduce churches that have pastoral vacancies to NACCC affiliated clergy who wish to be considered for open positions. This is done online securely, through the NACCC website.
Workshops, Lectures, and Webinars
The Center sponsors or co-sponsors a wide array of church-related continuing education opportunities for clergy and laity. Past workshops, lectures and webinars are readily available to our NACCC members.
The Center’s webinars are offered for free to church members of the NACCC.
Resources for churches and leaders
The Center offers important contributions to the resources we are able to share with our member churches. From leadership guidance and conflict management to strategic planning and ethics information the Center for Congregational Leadership works to help the NACCC provide comprehensive resources to help our member churches and their congregations to thrive and flourish.
