CHRISTIAN
MISSION IN THE FAR EAST
Philippines
The Christian Mission in the Far East ministers
both spiritually and physically to people in 20 provinces in the
Philippines, establishing more than one hundred ninety churches,
orphanages and schools. Functions of the mission include evangelism,
discipline, church planting, and training of pastors and church
workers. The mission is also well known for providing elementary and
high school education to remote areas (tribes), as well as care for
the homeless.Orphanages, called Gethsemane Children's
Homes are in operation in the Philippines. The children in these
homes have the opportunity to hear the Gospel of Christ and live
productive lives with house parents. Most of the children have
been referred for long-term care (until they finish college).
The atmosphere in these homes approximates that of a
well-rounded family.
The mission also operates Bible Schools that
prepare men and women for teaching, work in mission fields,
youth ministries, evangelism work, and pastoral ministry. Many
of the graduates now serve the CMFE in various ways. Some have
taken key leadership positions within the mission, as well as in
other parts of the world including the United States.
This mission also helps to educate the less
fortunate in remote areas where no transportation is available.
A special ministry has recently been opened
to CMFE pastors who wish to serve the tribal populations in the
Philippines. Evangelistic teams travel to remote areas in the
southern part of the Philippines proclaiming the Good News of
salvation through ministry and films in dialects specific to
that region.
The enthusiasm for ministry has not waned
during the 52 years of CMFE outreach. There continues to be
tremendous potential for mission ministry in the Philippines.
The CMFE is poised to be an instrument of Christ's compassion in
this area of the world.
