HOST COMMITTEE
ENTERTAINMENT
(Tuesday, 8:00pm)
Ben Miller has been playing in the Delta Blues style for
quite some time in Joplin, MO and surrounding areas,
performing most evenings and in many different venues. His
main influence in music has been the pre-war folk blues of
artists such as Robert Johnson, Son House, Charlie Patton
and Big Joe Williams. He recently completed his debut CD.

Rev. Thomas W. Shane, an ordained minister of the Christian

HERITAGE
LUNCHEON
(Wednesday, 12:15pm)
The Reverend Dr. Lottie Jones Hood, Senior Pastor of the
First Congregational Church of Detroit, will be the speaker
at Wednesday’s luncheon. This year’s Heritage Luncheon is
reserved for everyone. Many of us have been fortunate to
experience the Underground Railroad simulation at her
church. The Reverend Dr. Hood describes her presentation in
this way:
Freedom is an integral part of the fabric from which the
heritage of the Congregational Way is constructed. Woven
into the very warp and woof of this fabric, freedom is
viewed as a primary thread. From this vantage point, it is
not surprising that Congregationalism and Congregationalists
played major roles in the abolition of the institution of
slavery in the United States. This interpretive presentation
will explore this particular segment of the Congregational
heritage utilizing re-enactment and audience participation.
CCD BREAKFAST
“A Different Kind of Mothering”
(Monday, 7:00am)
How are new churches born? Biblically, historically, and
most probably, new churches are given life by “mother”
churches. Come and learn how mother churches are part of our
Congregational Way. Come, too, and learn how you and your
church can help new churches to be born. Presented by the
Rev. Dr. E. Neil Hunt, Chair of CCD and Rev. John Carson,
Associate Executive Secretary for Missions, Church
Development and Regional Partnerships.
INTERGENERATIONAL EVENT
(Monday, 6:00pm)
As we look toward the next fifty years, we are aware that
many of those who will lead us are attending NAPF & HOPE. We
will have a special opportunity to share an evening with the
Youth in Kansas City. On Monday evening they will join us
and we will mix at tables for dinner and casual
conversation. Following dinner we will be entertained by
members of Olivet College’s choir. Youth and adult
representatives are working on a worship service, which we
hope will be meaningful to ALL generations. The evening will
conclude with refreshments.

FIRST TIMERS
GATHERING
(Sunday, 11:00am)
First timers are urged to come to this gathering before
lunch. We are going to share information that will make this
meeting work for you. The best way for you, if you are a
delegate or observer, to get the most out of your time here
is to plan what you want to do ahead of time. Your program
booklet will give you the outline of events, times and
places. There is some overlapping of events which is
unavoidable. You will need to make choices in the best
interest of your church. As a delegate, you will want to
represent your church at business meetings. Workshops and
other events are more optional. At this meeting, we will
give you simple details of where to go, who to look for, and
who to ask, if you have questions. Most of all, we want you
to fellowship with fellow Pilgrims. Our intention for these
Annual Meetings is to give us a sense of connectedness and
to learn, and to have fun. Welcome, First Timers!
STATE & REGIONAL ASSOC. MEETING
(Tuesday, 3:30pm)
This year’s meeting of State and Regional Associations will
provide an opportunity to the leaders of our associations. A
“Moderator’s Forum” representing our associations in the
West, Midwest, Northeast and South is being planned.
Presentations and conversation will focus on particular joys
and concerns, shared hopes and help for all of our
associations. We will also hear from our Fraternal
Delegates, an association of lay persons who represent the
NACCC at state and regional events.
CFTS RECEPTION
(Sunday, 9:00pm)
The CFTS Reception is a long-standing event in which we
celebrate the achievements of our graduates and honor those
who support this vital program. This year there are five
graduates: Robert Brink, University of Dubuque Theological
Seminary; Lisa Dembkowski, Andover Newton Theological
Seminary; Susan LeFeber, University of Dubuque Theological
Seminary; Christopher Stephens, Trinity Evangelical Divinity
School; Hillary Viets, Fuller Theological Seminary. Please
join us for beverages and snacks and allow us to introduce
you to these fine graduates.
INSTITUTE FOR CONGREGATIONAL STUDIES BREAKFAST
(Sunday, 7:00am)
Colleagues of the ICS will undertake the Institute’s
business and discuss the projects to be studied in the
coming year. All who are interested in continuing our Way’s
tradition of a learned ministry to a literate laity are
welcome to attend this second annual meeting.
A RECEPTION TO HONOR OUR TREASURER AND SECRETARY
(Tuesday, 5:30pm)
A reception honoring both Jim Walsh for his ten years of
dedicated service as our Association’s Treasurer, and Sherry
Glab for her three years of service as our Association and
Corporate Secretary, will be held on Tuesday. Be sure to
stop by and say thank you to these two committed people.
CLERGY SPOUSE MINI RETREAT
(Saturday, 10:00am~3:00pm)
One of the best qualities a married minister can bring to
their ministries is a healthy, working relationship with
their spouses. A clergy couple models within the church not
how to be perfect but how to live with imperfection and grow
as they are recipients and conveyors of God’s grace. Arrive
a day early and spend Saturday in dialogue with other clergy
spouses, sharing your challenges and accomplishments in
establishing healthy clergy family/church boundaries as one
of the foundations for a happier marriage. There is no cost
for the retreat; lunch is provided. You are responsible for
your overnight accommodations. Please register for the
retreat by checking the appropriate box on the Annual
Meeting registration form.
INTERNATIONAL CONGREGATIONAL FELLOWSHIP (AMCO)
LUNCHEON
(Monday, 12:30pm)
AMCO is the American Committee for the International
Congregational Fellowship. The purpose of ICF is to
encourage fellowship and mutual counsel among
Congregationalists worldwide in their work of proclaiming
the Christian gospel and engaging in mission. Come and learn
how Congregationalists from around the world have helped
Rev. Kenaz Solomon and his church after it was devastated by
the Tsunami.
WASHINGTON GLADDEN SOCIETY MEETING
(Monday, 2:00pm)
We invite you to the Annual Meeting of the Washington
Gladden Society. Washington Gladden was a Congregational
Minister who did much to address social issues through his
preaching and writing. Our society meets annually to conduct
a brief business session and to take time for discussion. We
hope you will come to join us as we prayerfully look at ways
to address a current concern in our culture.
MEET YOUR MISSIONARIES RECEPTION
(Tuesday, 5:00pm)
Take advantage of this opportunity to meet NACCC sponsored
missionaries. Become inspired as you learn first-hand about
their ministries on the mission fields. International and
nations missionaries will be in attendance and welcome this
occasion to meet new friends and renew friendships with
supporters of their works. Speak with Missionary Society
members and learn about the extensive ministries and
resources offered through the Society and how you and your
church can become involved in missions.
DFM’S CLERGY FAMILY DESSERT & PUNCHBOWL (Tuesday,
1:30pm)
Save room for dessert during your “lunch out” time on
Tuesday! The “Clergy Family Dessert and Punchbowl” will
satisfy! The Division for Ministry is pleased to provide
this informal time to meet colleagues in ministry and share
in the communion of friendship. Touch base with old friends
and introduce yourself to new clergy in our Association as
you enjoy sweet treats and kindred hearts.
